Test Rig In Italy

The main role of the "Istituto per la Tecnologia delle Membran" (ITM-CNR) in Italy is the "Central Testing Laboratory" in which all different membrane materials of the five development tracks are tested independently. To determine the transport properties (selectivity and permeance) of the membranes, the lab-scale plant was improved by designing and realizing different membrane modules in dependence of the specific dimensions and requirements of the membranes supplied (e.g. relative humidity).
The experiments are carried out with pure gases, for the evaluation of ideal permeance and selectivity, and with the "NanoGLOWA gas mixture" (17% CO2, 78% N2, 5% O2) for evaluating the actual selectivity.
The operating conditions used in the experiments are summarized in the table below.

Temperature

30, 50, 80 ˚C

Feed pressure

2 - 10 bar

Permeate pressure

0.01 - 1 bar

Relative humidity

0 - 100%
